On the day I turned 22, I received a marriage proposal. It was a one-of-a-kind ring, the ultimate gift from my boyfriend of four years. Yet, I couldn’t bring myself to wear it.
From that day forward, I decided I wanted to live by listening to my heart. I left my hometown and lived on various islands in Japan, working in live-in positions and managing cockroach infestations. During that time, I was able to experience the beautiful landscapes across Japan—mornings, sunsets, and fleeting moments shared with loved ones. I made a bucket list to live without regrets and found that nature helped me relax my body.
Little by little, I found a rhythm that resonated with my heart.
Now, I am involved in a self-care brand in the Kamakura area, navigating crowded trains five days a week and the shallow pace of city life. I aim to spread natural self-care and mindfulness to those who, like I once did, find it hard to relax. This is the way I have learned to live, with all its imperfections.
